Treasures

Being in a fabric store, for me, is like being a kid in a candy store.  And that is just at my local store.  Put me in the shops on Spadina and it's like I have entered Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.  Bolts of fabric from floor to ceiling, a maze of narrow aisles winding through every type, texture and colour imaginable.  I never know what treasures I will find but two things are certain: I won't leave empty handed and I will leave with at least one fabric that I love but for which I have no particular project in mind.  And such was the story during a late-winter foray to the city earlier this year.  This beautiful linen has sat patiently waiting ever since.  I am tickled pink that it has just been selected for a custom order and will be given as a gift this holiday season.  The hunt, the found treasure and the creation of something special: all the things this kid's dreams are made of.
