The Reno

When we moved into our new house, it was just the two of us and it seemed positively palatial.  Sixteen years and 3 kids later, not so much.  Over those 16 years our decorating style became...utilitarian.  Long gone were the weekend forays to antique markets, artist studios, even garage sales.   Several months ago, while considering the possibility of re-locating, we took a good look at what was and wasn't working for us in our house as our needs and those of our boys, now aged 7-14, had definitely changed.  The end result was a plan for what we consider The Reno, really more like a re-decorating project, but after so many years this is a big deal.   What...

Customize the New Year

What does 2017 have in store for your home? A quick spruce-up, whole room re-decorating, major reno?  Whatever the project, new textiles can make a world of difference.   Having your table linens or accent cushions custom made gives you freedom to choose the "just-right" fabric or opt for an off-beat combo that you will never find in stores.   Or maybe there is some fabric memorabilia tucked away waiting to be re-purposed into an everyday item (see our last blog post). "Contact Us" and share your ideas.  Together we can design the items that will finish off your space and make it truly yours.

All Names are Celebrated

We all know them, the racks in souvenir shops with all manner of trinkets with "your name" on them: keychains, pens, magnets...  You search and search for your name, anticipation growing, only to find that it isn't there, it is spelled differently or it is the short form but you use the long (or vice versa).  Almost as bad, if you have been lucky enough to find your name, is to find that the one with your name comes in THE WORST colour! Trivial troubles for sure, but I can imagine for anyone who rarely finds items with their name, it is pretty special to have something personalized.  That is the beauty of custom orders.  Rainbow Stardust? Susan with a...

Treasures

Being in a fabric store, for me, is like being a kid in a candy store.  And that is just at my local store.  Put me in the shops on Spadina and it's like I have entered Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.  Bolts of fabric from floor to ceiling, a maze of narrow aisles winding through every type, texture and colour imaginable.  I never know what treasures I will find but two things are certain: I won't leave empty handed and I will leave with at least one fabric that I love but for which I have no particular project in mind.  And such was the story during a late-winter foray to the city earlier this year.  This beautiful linen has...
